The member of the Senior Council of the International Monetary Fund from Brazil, Paulo Nogueira Batista, called a program of providing Ukraine a loan of $17 billion for stabilizing the budget under the conditions of a political and economic crisis flawed and dubious.
According to him, the IMF makes the same mistake as in the situation with Greece in 2010.
“In the case of Ukraine, the Fund relies again on hope, not on the facts,” – said Batista.
He noted that the success of this credit program largely depends on the political outcome of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine, which will require the collaboration between Kiev and Moscow.
In April, the IMF mission in Kiev has approved a loan of $17 billion for Ukraine. On the eve it became known that the Ukrainian authorities may require about $19 billion for the continuation of the special operation in the East of the country.
